The guided waves generated from the sensor propagate throughout the entire thickness of the plate (red wave in the figure below), and a portion of the guided waves is reflected at areas where the cross-sectional shape changes (such as corrosion and welds). By analyzing these reflected guided waves, we determine the presence or absence of defects.
